TEMPO.CO, Depok - The National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) in tandem with the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency is hunting for the identity of a hacker known as Bjorka who claimed to have obtained President Jokowi's documents and letters with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
“I think they (Bareskrim) will be able to explain it later because it is more technical. But we also help them, so we'll just have to wait as this is related to digital forensics,” said the agency’s head Hinsa Siburian at a press conference at the BSSN HQ in Sawangan, Depok, West Java, Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
When asked about the hacker’s identity, whether an Indonesian or a foreigner and an individual or a team, Hinsa just smiled and refused to go into details.
“As for that [question], we are investigating it,” he said.
The government acknowledged there was a data leak. Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Minister Johnny G Plate said the circulating breached data were general ones, rather than specific and up-to-date data. “Some of the data are old,” he remarked.
In addition to identity, Hinsa said the agency is also investigating the hacker’s main purpose in disclosing information which he called general data. Yet he did not deny that some of them were real.
He argued that data have classifications and validity periods that determine their importance and up-to-date status.
The BSSN Head also claimed that the national vital data are safe despite the data leak incident. The electronic system for public services is also running well.
