TNI Commander Opens Super Garuda Shield Joint Military Exercise

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Andika Perkasa has officially opened the joint military exercise touted the Super Garuda Shield (SGS) 2022 held at South Sumatra’s Baturaja combat training field on August 3. This event is a joint training between Indonesia and Indo-Pacific countries.
"SGS 2022 is a large-scale joint training event between Indonesia and friendly countries in the Indo-Pacific region," said TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa, Antaranews reported.
When opening the activity, General Andika was accompanied by the Commanding General of United States Army Pacific Command (USQPARC) General Charles A Flynn. The opening of the exercise was marked by pinning the participant's beret to the soldier's representative.
Joint exercises are held on August 1-14, 2022 at three different locations, namely the Combat Training Center in Baturaja, the Marine Combat Training Center in Dabo Singkep, and the Combat Training Center in Amborawang.
There are 13 countries participating in the military exercise which include the United States, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, India, Timor Leste, Canada, France, and Britain.
This annual joint exercise between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) is designed to strengthen the interoperability, capability, mutual trust and cooperation that have been built.
