Google, Twitter Yet Registered in Kominfo's PSE List

19 July 2022 21:48 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaForeign electronic system operators (PSE) including Google and Twitter have not yet registered in the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) as of the time of this writing, July 19.

Other big foreign PSE, namely Facebook and Netflix have been registered as published on the ministry’s page pse.kominfo.go.id. Facebook Singapore Pte. Ltd. already registered Instagram and Facebook in the information and communication technology sector. Netflix Pte. Ltd. registered its system and website Netflix.com/id/ in the trade sector.

However, Google and Twitter were not visible on the ministry’s site, particularly in the foreign PSE list section, as of Tuesday evening.

Other than Facebook and Netflix, the list displayed other PSE such as TikTok Pte Ltd. which registered its tiktok.com site and system named TikTok. Telegram Messenger Inc. registered its site web.telegram.org under the system named Telegram Messenger. There are also Mobile Legends, MiChat, and Spotify on the list.

On the domestic PSE list, there are around 20 company names that have registered the Google system along with the sites google.com, mail.gmail.com, drive.google.com, and https://play.google.com/store/ apps. There are also five companies registering the Facebook system and 9 companies registering the WhatsApp system and site.

Previously, Google representatives in Indonesia said they would register as a private PSE. “We are aware of the need to register from the relevant regulations and will take appropriate action as an effort to comply with [the government’s regulation],” said a representative of Google's management in Indonesia to Tempo on July 16, 2022. However, Google did not detail the date.

Referring to pse.kominfo.go.id accessed today evening, 6,604 domestic PSE and 125 foreign PSE have made the registration.

The Communications and Informatics Ministry's (Kominfo) director general for applications and informatics Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan stated that PSE that have not been registered by July 20, 2022, will receive a sanction that will be imposed in stages, comprising warning, administrative, and then blocking.
