TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo welcomed the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Bogor Presidential Palace this morning, June 16, 2022.
Steinmeier arrived at the palace by boarding a Limousin car and was warmly greeted by Jokowi at the palace yard as well as a parade of people donning traditional attire and dress.
The two leaders were seen not wearing face masks.
Before entering the palace, both leaders solemnly joined the opening ceremony. The marching band played the national anthem of Germany and the Indonesian anthem Indonesia Raya in line with the raising of the Indonesian flag and German flag side by side.
They thus entered the palace for talks and then headed to the palace grounds to plant sandalwood trees together.
After the tree planting process completes, Jokowi and Steinmeier went back to the palace to continue the meeting agenda.
Earlier reported, the German President was also scheduled to visit the Yogyakarta Palace, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Borobudur Temple on Friday, June 17, 2022.
