TEMPO.CO, JakartaGaruda Indonesia president director Irfan Setiaputra said that Garuda's flight occupancy is starting to almost fully occupy ahead of hajj season with the seat load factor to nearly 100 percent.

“The latest ones are hajj flights. Full occupancy and 90 percent seat load factor,” Irfan Setiaputra told Tempo Friday, June 10.

He admitted that the nearly full seat load factor was also contributed by aircraft scarcity. But Garuda will still fly with a seat load factor of that capacity.

“Even if it is not scarce, we'll fly with a load of that size. If there are additional planes, we might be adding more flight schedules,” he added.

Irfan explained that Garuda's flight occupancy is affected by the increase in global aviation fuel prices, so the state-owned airline implements a fuel surcharge. Garuda Indonesia applies a fuel surcharge of 10 percent on economy-class flights.
