Badminton Asia Championships 2022; 11 Indonesian Shuttlers to Race Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 11 Indonesian representatives will compete in the first round of the Badminton Asia Championships 2022 on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. They will fight to proceed to the top 16 of the Super 1000 tournament.

In men's singles, four Indonesian shuttlers Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, will take the court. Of the four representatives, Chico will face a tough match against Japanese player Kento Momota.

A tough match against representatives of Indonesia in the women's singles include Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi who ranked 317th in the world versus Chinese world number 24 Han Yue and  Stephanie Widjaja versus Korean An Seyoung.

In addition, Putri Kusuma Wardani, who ranked 61 in the world, will serve in the women's singles against Korean world number 18 Kim Ga Eun. Indonesia's best women's singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung will face China's representative, Zhang Yi Man.

Representatives of Indonesia in the women's doubles will also have a tough match against a number of great athletes. Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti / Ribka Sugiarto will face the Korean number three, Kim Soyeong / Kong Heeyong, while Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari / Rachel Allessya Rose will face the Japanese representative, Yuki Fukushima / Sayaka Hirota.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and colleagues will fight after a number of Indonesian representatives who have qualified for the round of 16. In the mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti, Rinov Rivaldy / Pitha Haningtyas Mentari made it through the first round. Meanwhile, Adnan Maulana / Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso passed the first match without having to compete.

In the men's doubles, Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto also qualified for the second round. Meanwhile, Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan and Pramudya Kusumawardana / Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan automatically qualified without competing after their opponents in the first round withdrew the Badminton Asia Championships 2022.
