TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Athletics Association management (PB PASI) is targetting to win eight gold medals in the SEA Games Hanoi that will start on May 12 until May 23, 2022.
Head of the association Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who is also the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, and Coordinator for the Java and Bali Public Activity Restriction (PPKM), said that the national team has prepared everything to achieve this goal.
"We are targetting eight gold medals in the SEA Games Hanoi, which went through multiple predictions. Let us pray in support for our athletes who will compete there," said Luhut in a written statement on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, as quoted by Antaranews.
In addition, Luhut explained that PN PASI plans to use the services of a Jamaican coach.
"If I'm not mistaken, they will arrive in June and will directly assist in Papua," Luhut added.
The Papua reference comes from the latest memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PB PASI management and Freeport Indonesia on the implementation of the decentralized athletics national training center program in Mimika.
In the future, training camps will also be developed in various regions in Indonesia to look for other potential athletes, one of which is in Pangalengan, West Java, which is targeted to be completed in June 2022.
