TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Tuesday monitored the activity of tropical cyclone 94W which at the time was located at the eastern waters of the Philippines and creating a convergence zone elongating along the country’s east pacific ocean.
The agency also monitored a cyclonic circulation over the ocean north of Kalimantan and the Indian Ocean Southwest of Banten.
Convergence zone is also detected west of Aceh up to the west coast of North Sumatra, eastern coastal region of Riau, West Sumatra, and Bengkulu. It is also seen in the central part of Kalimantan, Central Java, NTB, Makassar Strait, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.
This condition can potentially help emerge rain clouds, increase wind speeds, and wave heights along the cyclonic circulation above the convergence zones.
Rainstorm is expected to shower cities such as Banda Aceh, Jambi, Pontianak, Tarakan and Pangkal Pinang while milder rainfall is expected to rain over Gorontalo, Bandung, Tanjung Pinang, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Palangkaraya, Bandar Lampung, Ambon, Ternate, Manokwari, Pekanbaru and Palembang.
