TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport operator Angkasa Pura II on Monday admitted that the airport’s international arrival terminal at Terminal 3 was jam-packed with travelers on Sunday, March 27.
The airport’s legal and branch communications senior manager M. Holik Muardi on Monday said the long queue was caused by the simultaneous arrivals of a number of international flights. A video that went rounds on social media on Sunday showed a long queue of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport who were lining up for PCR swab tests.
"So the overcrowding took place at the area where the PCR tests were taken at the Terminal 3 waiting bay," he said.
The number of air travelers passing through the airport reached 124 thousand people from the departure and arrival areas. This is considered to be a significant increase compared to the 80-90 thousand traffic on the day before.
He added there were 14,131 international travelers with 6,764 categorized as arrivals while 7,367 of them were set to depart.
