TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) of Lombok International Airport, West Nusa Tenggara, confirmed that current flight activities are not affected by the eruption of Mount Merapi's hot clouds on the border of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, and Central Java as it heads towards southeast areas.
"All flights still run normally," said a spokesman for AP I Lombok Airport Arif Haryanto in Praya, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Arif added that domestic flight routes at the airport remain operating, including those from Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Makassar, Sumbawa, and Bima.
Meanwhile, there have been no international routes yet, except those for MotoGP logistics at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok on March 18-20. "There are six domestic flight routes at Lombok Airport, and no overseas routes," Arif said.
Mount Merapi's activity has again increased as it spewed hot clouds avalanches as far as 5,000 meters. All residents of Kalitengah Lor, Glagaharjo, and Cangkringan had taken refuge in Glagaharjo Village Hall and were asked to stay vigilant.
