TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Tourists from various areas were flocking Yogyakarta during the Nyepi Holiday on Thursday, March 3. They visited several destinations in the city center or regencies of Yogyakarta.
Yogyakarta Police deployed teams to patrol at tourist destinations in the region. "Today, in line with Nyepi Holiday, is the third day of Progo 2022 safety operation, so we hold patrol to various tourist destinations while also promoting the implementation of health protocol to tourists to prevent Covid transmission," said Yogya Police spokesman Sr. Comsr. Yuliyanto on Thursday.
Some of the locations include Gembira Loka Zoo, Yogyakarta Monument, Jogja Kembali monument area, Prambanan Temple and Malioboro. "In this patrol, we prioritize educative activities in the form of traffic control and regulation, checking roadworthy vehicles and vehicle completeness, as well as an appeal for vehicles not to use sirens or rotators unless they are specified to use one," said Yuliyanto.
The police also call for cargo trucks to not overload the capacity. "The appeal to stick to the health protocol in preventing Covid transmission and giving out masks for tourists are still the main priorities," Yuliyanto said.
The patrol is done simultaneously by Yogyakarta Police and resorts police offices in five regencies/cities.
