The Health Ministry secretary-general of public health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said officials are yet able to pinpoint the cause of the drop in Jakarta’s Covid-19 cases and only confirmed that it has exceeded the Delta outbreak peak on July-August 2021, at 14,000 cases.
Throughout the spread of Omicron, according to Nadia, the highest daily additional Covid-19 case in Jakarta occurred on February 6, 2022, at 15,825 cases. It was followed by a reduced number of cases in the following days.
She asserted that the Ministry of Health continues to monitor the Covid development to ascertain what triggered the decline in Jakarta. "Whether it is actually because the cases are down or because of the small number of testing," she said.
The pattern of Covid-19 reporting in Jakarta remained fluctuated as she said no data had been reported on Saturday and Sunday. However, she said the monitoring of Covid-19 cases in Jakarta is based on reports in real-time.
