TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said his side continued to prepare accommodation for MotoGP Mandalika in tandem with local governments and tourism players. The ministry, he said, would increase the number of hotel rooms and determine the price ceiling and floor for the rooms.
According to Sandiaga, West Nusa Tenggara has around 24,000 rooms. The number, however, was considered still lacking since the government set the capacity for the international event spectators at 100,000 people.
“It has been finalized, the currently available accommodation is 24,000 rooms, and this will continue to grow. We are assisted by the provincial government to map tourist villages, homestays, and Sarhunta (tourism residential facilities),” said Sandiaga in his statement, Thursday, Feb. 10.
In addition, glamorous camping or glamping sites and flats would be provided as an alternative accommodation for tourists.
Sandiaga Uno also confirmed that the current occupancy rate for hotels in West Nusa Tenggara was recorded at 52 percent. “So hotels still have rooms and we’ll later optimize the integrated booking system,” he said.
The MotoGP Mandalika officially dubbed Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia was slated to be held on March 18-20, 2022. The pre-season test, however, started from February 11-13. The government and tourism actors also prepared various side events to enliven the international racing event.
