TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain in Jakarta and Tangerang on Monday noon 20 December, left the limited area of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Terminal 3 flooded.
Videos and photos posted to social media showed the terminal's roads and parking areas inundated. Some videos also showed cleaners trying to drain water in Terminal 3's lobby.
Angkasa Pura II's senior manager of branch communication & legal for Soekarno-Hatta Airport, M Holik Muardi, said that the flood was caused by a puddle at the loading dock of Terminal 3 International.
"We suspect it was caused by high water debit in the main channel, which slowed the water discharge," he said in a written statement.
According to Holik, the flood occurred after heavy rains flushed the international airport and its surrounding area at around 13:00 Jakarta time.
Angkasa Pura II, he said, is currently investigating the factors that caused the main channel's water to rise.
After the quick mitigation, Holik said, there is no more puddle at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. "There are no problems in general for airport operations, including services to passengers."
