Indonesia Announces First Case of Omicron Variant

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is now among countries where the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been identified in. On Thursday, the Health Minister, Budi Gunawan Sadikin, confirmed the entry of the Omicron variant to Indonesia.
According to Budi, his ministry has detected an Indonesian national who had contracted the Omicron variant.
In a press conference today, December 16, Budi Gunawan said the individual, N, is a janitor at the Wisma Atlet quarantine center.
According to Budi, N and two fellow janitors took the RT-PCR test on December 8. From the tree samples tested by the Health Ministry, one result identified the Omicron variant. The sample was taken from patient N.
