NTB Governor Speaks of Possibly Hosting Formula 1 at Mandalika

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) governor Zulkieflimansyah reportedly will travel to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, in mid December this year to discuss possibilities for Mandalika Circuit to host a Formula 1 race. It is said that he will depart to Abu Dhabi on December 11-12.
''To follow up the discussion (upon hosting a Formula 1 at the Mandalika Circuit)," said Zulkieflimansyah.
He went on to say that to organize Formula 1 in Mandalika, the financing would be bigger than the MotoGP's. He ensured that it would be totally fjnded by the president.
“Don’t count the financial aspect of it. Infrastructures such as bridges and others have been built and no one in the world is aware of it,” he added. “But with the existence of the Mandalika Circuit, 1.6 billion people will witness it.”
Moreover, the NTB governor said that the region will also host another international-scale motocross racing championship, the MXGP, on June 29, 2022. He said the location of the track will be near the Mandalika Circuit.
