Jakarta Reopens 62 Karaoke Parlors in Trial as Covid-19 Restriction Eased

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Provincial Government has allowed the reopening of 62 family karaoke parlors in trial, following the implementation of level 1 Covid-19 restriction or PPKM Level 1.
During the trial test, the entertainment venues may only receive 25 percent capacity of visitors, as stated in PPKM Level 1 regulation. The trial has started on Friday, Nov. 5.
The 62 karaoke places were selected based on the assessment of th city's Tourism Department. "We've tested the feasibility,” said the Jakarta official of tourism and crative economy department Iffan Radja on Friday, Nov. 5.
He explained that verification process was executed by the toursim department with the regional disaster mitigation agency (BPBD), Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and health department.
The business is only allowed to use 50 percent of the total rooms available. For other karaoke places that have yet to get the operational permit, may submit the request for verification to Jakarta Provincial Government.
The reopening of theentertainment business was a follow up of the eased Covid-19 restriction in the capital city to PPKM Level 1 based on the Home Affairs Ministry Instruction Number 57/2021 and Jakarta Governor Decree Number 1312/2021.
Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department head, Andhika Permata, also issued its stipulation Number 676/2021 that regulates the reopening of karaoke parlors.
The reopening of the 62 entertainment venues is still in trial phase.
