TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) president director Inarno Djajadi said the number of stock investors, or the number of single identity investors (SID), in the new capital market continued to increase in the last eight months in 2021.
"Based on KSEI data as of September 31, 2021, the SID of the Indonesian capital market has reached more than 6.4 million SID, including 2.9 million SID of [stock market investors]," Inarno said at the virtual opening of the Capital Market Summit & Expo, Thursday, 14 October.
The increase, he said, reached a new record, or by 1 million new stock investors.
He said that the number of companies listed in the IDX also rose to 750 issuers as of September 30, which means that there have been 38 new listings.
He said that the Covid-19 pandemic presents challenges for the Indonesian economy and capital market. Therefore, major adjustments have been made to ensure market sustainability. One of those adjustments is the use of digital technology in operational activities, including the implementation of capital market education and socialization activities.
