TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Jakarta) in a media discussion on Tuesday announced that it had collected the data, in partnership with Bank Indonesia, of 10 commodities, products, and types of businesses which show potential growth amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most of the businesses classified in this continuous growth are the ones that fulfill the basic needs of the public.

“These 10 types of businesses have been observed to continue growing in the future,” said Kadin Jakarta deputy chairperson of cooperatives and MSMEs, Ahmad Sarbini, on October 12, Antaranews reported.

Based on their research, the 10 commodities, products, and types of businesses are food stalls, restaurants, various bakeries, grocery stores, tempe industries, computer programming services, equipment rental providers, padang food restaurants, ‘sembako’ stores (which are generally larger than traditional grocery stores), and fashion products.

The Kadin research is meant to support the development of MSMEs by building databases which allows practitioners to understand the spatial spread of MSMEs for sustainable monitoring and guidance, maintain food security, digitalization of MSMEs, and improve their competitiveness.
