TEMPO.CO, Depok - The Depok Metro Police are finalizing a plan to enforce odd-even policy on Margonda Raya in early October 2021. Depok Police chief of traffic, Adj. Sr. Commissioner Andi Indra Waspada, said that his side continues to coordinate with the Depok City Government to finalize the traffic policy.
"We plan to carry out odd-even at the beginning of next month on Jalan Margonda. At the current stage, we've conducted coordination meetings with relevant agencies and have determined the location," said Andi on Tuesday, September 21.
He added that it would be temporarily implemented on weekends to reduce public mobility amid the level 3 Covid restrictions or PPKM. “Depok City has entered level 3 [restriction], therefore we are preparing for the odd-even policy," said Andi.
Depok Police also conducted a site survey and comparative study with Jakarta Metro Police, so that the odd-even implementation in the satellite city can run smoothly.
Previously, the odd-even policy on Jalan Margonda Raya had been imposed in mid-2018. However, it was met with various rejections from the community since the road is one of the vital accesses for Depok residents to Jakarta.
