TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two popular tourist destinations in Bandung Regency, West Java, will be reopened on a trial basis as the COVID-19 situation in the area is improving. The trial is aimed at ensuring the application of the predetermined health protocols.
“Regarding the locus, we cannot confirm it yet as it is still being discussed. We will announce it in the near future,” said Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna in Bandung, Thursday, September 9.
Bandung Regency has at least 28 popular tourist destinations. The two of them that will likely be opened are Kawah Putih (White Crater) and glamping sites in Rancabali District.
According to Dadang, the two nature-based tourism are suitable for initiating the reopening of tourist destinations in the regency. However, since the central government requires the PeduliLindungi COVID-19 surveillance app, the preparation was still afoot.
“Last night, we also received information [about tourism reopening] from other sites. I personally agree to open these two sites, because of their large, outdoor area in nature, and I believe people will discipline to apply the health protocols,” he said.
At present, Bandung Regency is under the level 3 public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 3. Meanwhile, Dadang assessed that from several indicators of the COVID-19 situation, his regency could already enter PPKM Level 2 status.
However, the Bandung Regent appealed to the public not to be too euphoric about the reopening of tourist destinations. “I ask for patience because there is no order from the central government yet.”
