TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) member of the Jakarta Local People's Representative Council of Indonesia (DPRD) does not question the holding of Formula E in the capital city, knowing that the event is not using the regional budget (APBD), but it using sponsors funds from the private sector.
"As long as you believe that Formula E is profitable, please run it, but don't use the APBD," said member of the PSI faction of the Jakarta DPRD, Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo, in an online discussion, Wednesday night, September 1, 2021.
According to him, the government should spend the APBD on something more useful than Formula E. Moreover, the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the regional economy which has an impact on people's welfare.
From Anggara's statement, the Jakarta government had to disburse a total of Rp 2.3 trillion to pay the commitment fee for Formula E for five consecutive years. The source of the funds is from the Jakarta Regional Budget.
In fact, the feasibility study offered by PT Jakarta Propertindo or Jakpro has not taken into account the commitment fees that must be paid by the Youth and Sports Office through the APBD. The Jakarta Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) assessed that the feasibility study did not fully describe financing activities.
For this reason, PDIP and PSI agreed to apply for Interpellation rights for Formula E. The Council wants Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to explain in detail the plans for the electric car racing event.
"We give the governor the widest possible stage to explain this problem, because it involves APBD money, people's money," explained Anggara.
PDIP and PSI have submitted this Formula E interpellation document to the Chairman of the Jakarta DPRD Prasetio Edi Marsudi on Thursday, August 26, 2021. All 33 PDIP and PSI members have signed the document.
