Govt Allows Limited Face-To-Face Learning Protocols in PPKM Level 1-3 Areas

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has allowed limited face-to-face learning (PTM) to be carried out in educational units in the area of Restricted People’s Activity (PPKM) level 1-3.

"The implementation of limited PTM in PPKM areas level 1-3 must continue to prioritize the precautionary principle, as well as the health and safety of all education personnel and their families," said acting Head of the Public Relations and Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Hendarman on August 10, 2021.

The implementation of learning in PPKM regional education units level 1-3 can be done through limited PTM or distance learning (PJJ) according to the Joint Decree (SKB) of 4 Ministers.

The letter, which was signed by the Minister of Education and Culture, the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Health, and the Minister of Home Affairs, contains guidelines for the implementation of learning during the pandemic. The following are the provisions regarding limited PTM.

1. The head of the education unit is required to fill out or update the checklist on the Ministry of Education and Culture's Education Basic Data (Dapodik) pages and the Ministry of Religion's Education Management Information System (EMIS).

2. Limited PTM can be implemented through two phases, namely the transition period and the new habit period. In the transition period, PTM is limited to 2 months. During the new habit period, PTM is carried out after the transition period is complete.

3. Boarding schools and madrasas can conduct limited PTM in stages with the provisions, the first month during the transition period is limited to 50 percent, in the second month the transition period is 100 percent, and the new habit is 100 percent.

4. For schools that have started limited PTM, parents or guardians of students can choose to continue PJJ for their children.

5. Educators and education personnel who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 are advised to provide PJJ services from home.

6. Local governments can terminate limited PTMs if confirmed cases of Covid-19 are found in the education unit. Temporary suspension is carried out at least 3 times 24 hours.

7. Limited PTM must be carried out with strict health protocols and monitored by the local government.

8. Practical learning for SMK/MAK students such as in laboratories, studios, workshops, field work practices is allowed.

9. Limited PTM in higher education is carried out by complying with health protocols and policies issued by the relevant director general.
