Jakarta Covid-19 Update: 6.8 Percent Positivity Rate, 484 New Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control Dwi Oktavia in a written statement announced that the city logged 484 daily confirmed Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, August 24, from 15,093 specimens drawn from PCR tests. 

According to Dwi, there were 8,722 specimens that were tested negative for Covid-19 out of 9,206 tested today. Jakarta Provincial government also conducted antigen tests on 11,742 people with 139 reports coming in positive while the rest tested negative. 

Based on the figures, Jakarta’s positivity rate for the past week had decreased to 6.8 percent. Meanwhile, the national positive case percentage is 14.9 percent.

This past week’s positivity rate of the capital city was getting closer to the acceptable standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of below 5 percent. 

In total, Jakarta has logged a total of 846,000 cases since the Covid-19 virus first detected in the capital city in early 2020. Meanwhile, the city recorded a 97.5 percent recovery rate and 1.6 percent mortality rate.
