TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - One of the most popular tourist destinations in the city of Yogyakarta, Gembira Loka Zoo, stopped its operation temporarily from July 3 to 20, or during the enforcement of the emergency state of public activity restriction, or Emergency PPKM.
However, the biggest zoo in Yogyakarta and Central Java has been turned into one of Covid-19 vaccination centers. This program is promoted by the city administration, which also targets children aged 12-18 years for the inoculation.
Marketing Manager of Gembira Loka, Yosi Hermawan, said that the location for covid inoculation is at the parking lot on the west side, not inside the main area of the zoo.
"The location for vaccination is at the west gate parking area via Jalan Veteran," said Yosi, Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
The Covid-19 mass-vaccination at Gembira Loka Zoo will be held in three stages; starting from July 13-15, July 21-22 and July 27-29.
Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta, Heroe Poerwadi, said that the city administration had begun to intensify the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 18 years, targeting 44,999 children.
"Vaccination for these children will continue to be intensified, not only targeting those who live in the city. But also those who live outside the city but attend schools in Yogyakarta," he remarked.
