TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Tuesday has proposed a concept touted ‘complete Covid-19 doses vaccine tourism’ for tourists in a number of Indonesian tourist destinations. He claims this idea is currently in preparation stages.
“This vaccine tourism is an undoubtedly aspect in the tourism and creative economy environment. What we can make sure is that the vaccines for Indonesian citizens are free as a public good. We are determining the tourism package,” said Sandiaga Uno on June 8.
Citing Antaranews, Uno elaborated this concept by saying it can start by offering a first dose vaccination prior to departing to a tourist destination where tourists would enjoy a 14-day vacation in a certain tourist spot. They would receive their second dose of vaccination before they return home.
“I hope this can help grow the tourism and creative economy sector,” said the Minister.
The ministry plans to offer various tourism packages with tourists free to choose their destinations. Sandiaga Uno said this will be a strong alternative for domestic tourists instead of overseas tourism that has started to offer tourism packages along with vaccinations such as the United States and Thailand.
