TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Police decided to not deploy additional personnel to Papua, especially Boega District, following the fatal shooting of the State Intelligence Agency of Papua Chief (Kabinda) Brig. Gen. I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha. Danny was shot by an alleged armed separatist and terrorist group on April 25, 2021.

“[We will not mobilize more personnel] for the time being, because in addition to the security activities and operations carried out by the Papua Police, the National Police also hold Nemangkawi Operation 2021,” said the National Police Head of the Public Information Bureau, Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Rusdi explained that the joint the Indonesian Military (TNI) - National Police personnel launched a manhunt for all members of armed groups operating in the province. He also guaranteed public safety in the midst of many terrorist acts.

“Security forces in the province will surely pay attention to this issue after there are many victims in the past few days,” said Rusdi.

As widely reported, Papua BIN Chief I Gusti Putu Danny was killed in a gunfight with a Papuan armed group on April 25, 2021, while visiting Boega District.
