TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria confirmed that the city will impose a tighter social restriction beginning January 11, 2021, as complied with the central government’s policy. Riza hoped that the restriction could be enforced simultaneously in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi or Bodetabek areas.
"In the future, we hope there will be a policy issued by the central government that synchronizes rules in Jakarta and other regions," said Riza at the City Hall, Thursday, January 7, 2020.
The Gerindra politician said that the plan to enforce stringent restrictions had been discussed in a meeting with Governor Anies Baswedan on Tuesday. Two days ago, the city administration evaluated the extension of the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB), which is valid for two weeks from January 3 to 17, 2021.
A tighter restriction for the Jabodetabek area, Riza underlined, must be synchronized so that the handling of the pandemic could be optimized, not only in terms of the rules but also the period.
With the same policies and period, the tighter social restriction will be more effective in minimizing the people’s mobility as part of the efforts in curbing Covid-19 transmission. “Now it’s time to synchronize and harmonize [the policies],” Riza said.
