TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, said that Indonesia is one of the ASEAN countries that have already had Covid-19 vaccines.
Two weeks ago, the government imported 1.2 million ready-to-use vaccines from China. This month, 15 million vaccine raw materials will also arrive in the country, while in January 2021, there will be 1.2 million more ready-to-use vaccines.
"Of course as directed by the President, the vaccination can be carried out at the end of January," said Airlangga on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
Airlangga added that the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) will be analyzing the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine.
Data from China regarding the vaccine and the clinical trials in Brazil and Bandung were also being reviewed to ensure that the vaccines can be distributed to the public.
For the initial stage, Airlangga said that health workers, people who are working at the frontline against the pandemic, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officials, the Military (TNI) and Police Personnel, market traders, and MSMEs will be the top priorities for vaccine recipients.
"And it is hoped to raise a sense of security so that people will be brave to move to boost purchasing power," Airlangga explained.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced that after considering public inputs regarding the Covid-19 vaccination, the government will provide free vaccines for all.
