TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma has partnered with state-telecommunications giant Telkom to develop Indonesia’s digital infrastructure for the coronavirus vaccination program. One of which is the use of "tracking and tracing technology” that will ensure the continuity of the distribution process nationwide.
Barcodes will also be used to ensure the vaccines’ authenticity, which will be placed across its "primer packaging, secondary packaging, up to the delivery truck [distributing the COVID-19 vaccines],” wrote Digital Healthcare Bio Farma Director, Soleh Udin Al Ayubi, in the press release on December 2.
According to Ayub, the distribution of the vaccine will also be monitored by a ‘freeze tag’ to ensure the vaccine’s temperature will remain within 2-8 degrees celsius in its distribution.
The tracking technology is designed to conduct real-time GPS-based monitoring towards the vaccines’ condition which will be closely monitored from the Bio Farma command center.
This digital infrastructure will also enable consumers to pre-order the COVID-19 vaccination program through the official app, website, and appointed clinics that will serve future vaccinations.
