TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said the demographic bonus has put the millennial generation into a vital position for the country’s economy. According to him, millennials as the nation’s next generation will be the driving force for new MSMEs in the current and future era.
“Millennials who love domestic products will be a huge market potential for our MSMEs,” said Perry in the opening of the third series of the Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) on Friday, November 20.
He added that millennials have a resilient and high entrepreneurial spirit which could be a source of new excellent entrepreneurs. “That is the starting point for 'millennialspreneurs' to go global,” Perry said.
This year’s KKI theme, 'MSME Friends of Millennials', is expected to stimulate hope and optimism for millennial entrepreneurs to help improve the nation’s welfare and the economy in the future.
“We can see the progress of millennials from now on, from various fields, to become a turning point for MSMEs to emerge as a new economic power,” he added.
Perry went on to say that more than 53,000 people visited the KKI exhibition which was participated by 379 MSMEs. Bank Indonesia also recorded that the event booked sales totaling Rp10.5 billion.
