TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director-General of Budgeting at the Finance Ministry, Askolani, clarified that the insurance premium of the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) for participants of third class non-wage recipients scheme (PBPU) and non-employee (BP) will not increase.
Askolani said because they must only pay Rp25,000, as the central government subsidizes the premium at Rp16,500.
“The regulation indeed notes the increase in premium of the PBPU and PU schemes up to Rp42,000. It is just on the government regulation,” said Askolani via a press conference video in Jakarta, Thursday, May 14.
The government regulation (Perpres) No. 64/2020 on the second amendment of Perpres No. 82/2018 on health insurance stipulates that the third-class service premium jumped to Rp42,000 and will take effect in July 2020. However, participants are only obliged to pay Rp25,000, and the rest will be subsidized.
Askolani stated that the government is aware of the people’s financial condition amid the pandemic. Hence, subsidies for insurance premiums were provided. However, the premium would increase to Rp35,000 starting in January 2021.
Meanwhile, the BPJS Kesehatan premium for class II PBPU and BP is set at Rp100,000, and for class I at Rp150,000, which is effective starting July 2020 as noted in the Perpres 64/2020.
