TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - People have been at least for more than a month complying with the government’s order on physical distancing and staying at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many of course are missing outdoor activities such as going to the movies.
However, staying home does not mean we cannot watch films like we normally do in a cinema. As advised by Mental Floss and Apartment Therapy, here are five tips to set up a home theater, as follows:
- Choose a cozy spot
The first thing to be prepared is a cozy corner in your house, either your own room or a living room. Set your screen within the ideal viewing distance and comfortable couch.
- Install a soundbar
Consider having a soundbar, one or two long, thin speaker system if you set a small room. For a larger room, you can install two speakers with each placed beside the screen.
- Prep favorite snacks
Having a bowl of popcorn may be a good option as it is one of the typical ‘traditions’ in a cinema. As for drinks, take a bottle to avoid spilling.
- Sit up straight when choosing a 3D film
Choosing a film and seating position are important for your home theater, especially when you opt to have a 3D film because tilting your head to one side or the other can distort the 3D effect.
- Dim the lights
As the movie begins screening, it is highly recommended to dim the lights. The darkroom will make your show larger and clearer. Besides, eyes will be more focused on light in dark areas.
