TEMPO.CO, JakartaSoekarno-Hatta Airport provides hundreds of hand sanitizers as an effort to prevent coronavirus transmission at the airport.

"There are around 200 hand sanitizer points available in Soekarno-Hatta," Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Port Health Office, Anas Ma'ruf, told Tempo on Monday, March 2, saying that it could be found at corridors, passenger terminals, toilets, and waiting rooms.

Anas calls on passengers to use the facility as a means of preventing disease. Besides, he asked visitors and passengers at the airport to always wear masks.

He also asked the public not to panic about the coronavirus, "Stay calm, wear a mask, apply a clean and healthy lifestyle, wash your hands regularly and maintain your immune system," said Anas.

Following the positive Covid-19 case in Depok, West Java, state airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) conducts passenger examination more tightly and massively.

"All passengers who have just arrived from abroad will go through a body temperature check. The airline will also inform passengers about the need to fill in the Health Alert Card," said AP II Vice President of Corporate Communications, Yado Yarismano on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Yado said that the inspection at Soekarno-Hatta not only carried out on plane passengers but also on animals at the passenger terminal and cargo terminal executed by the Quarantine Center.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police are also continuing to monitor the spread of hoax news that can cause panic. All stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta intensively coordinated in carrying out efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19," said Yado.

Coronavirus prevention efforts at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, have been carried out strictly since early 2020 until today, refuting the presumption of the bad prevention, Yado stated through a press release on Tuesday, March 3.

He added that all personnel at Soekarno-Hatta Airport worked hard in conducting the preventive measures.

"We ask for support from airplane passengers at the airport and also the whole community. The airport is the main gate of Indonesia. Therefore, prevention efforts are carried out to the maximum," said Yado Yarismano.

The airport coordinates with related institutions, such as AP II, Airport Authority, Immigration Office, Quarantine, Police, Port Health Officer and other stakeholders in carrying out the efforts.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also equipped with various means to prevent the spread of Covid-19; in addition to thermal scanners, there are also thermo-guns, isolation capsules, until more hand sanitizers and periodic mask distribution.

A plan if a passenger detected with Covid-19 has also been prepared. If there is a report from the pilot, the aircraft will go to the quarantine area first.
