Police to Announce Result of Novel Baswedan Case at Year's End

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Argo Yuwono said that the Police will announce findings related to the attack against senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan at the end of this year.
"We have collected our findings and will announce it, hopefully, this year," said Argo at his office in South Jakarta on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Argo asserted that the police were handling the acid attack case seriously. However, Argo called on the public's understanding that the investigation requires time. Therefore he asked the people not to inquire about the case relentlessy.
"We are serious in handling cases, but for sure, we cannot chase people around. It's called an investigation, and in an investigation, summoning people takes time. When summoning people, its not like they will come the next day. We have a three-day interval to issue another summon," Argo added.
Previously, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, ensured that new findings related to Novel Baswedan’s case will be published by the Police's technical team in the near future.
Jokowi made the statement after receiving reports from National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the Merdeka Palace. Jokowi mentioned that based on information from Idham, there are new findings that will lead to resolution of the case.
