TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta District Court has rejected a pretrial request lodged by Imam Nahrawi related to the suspect naming of the former Youth and Sports Minister in the Koni graft case.
“The entire pretrial lawsuit is rejected,” said judge Elfian, reading the pretrial ruling, Tuesday, November 12.
The judge stated that the suspect naming of Imam was valid based on sufficient preliminary evidence. The respondent, the judge went on, had two valid proofs, namely documentary evidence and witness statement.
He also stated that the investigation and detention warrant issued by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was legal as it was under the authority of the anti-graft body, and there was no legal vacuum.
KPK named Imam and his personal assistant, Miftahul Ulum, suspects in the bribery and gratification case at Youth and Sports Ministry. Imam was suspected of receiving money totaling Rp26.5 billion throughout 2014-2018. Some of the money was delivered by Ulum.
The bribe money allegedly came from the disbursement of the National Sports Committee or KONI's grant funds in the 2018 fiscal year.
Imam Nahrawi was also suspected to obtain the bribe related to his position as the steering board chairman of the national sports program Satlak Prima and other posts in the ministry.
