TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has officially moved Cikarang Utama tollgate and applied new fares following the adjustment. The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry issued the policy in a bid to overcome vehicle density during the upcoming Eid homecoming season.
The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) head, Danang Parikesit, said that the regulation has been just issued on May 15, 2019, through Transportation Ministerial Decree No. 481 of 2019.
“The current traffic condition is quite high, so we take several adjustments in tollgates,” said Danang during a press conference in the PUPR Ministry building, South Jakarta, Thursday, May 16.
The government through state-run toll operator PT Jasa Marga divided Cikarang Utama tollgate into two; Cikarang Utama tollgate at KM 70 for vehicles that will pass Cikopo-Palimanan toll (Cipali) and Kalihurip Utama tollgate in KM 67 for vehicles that will pass Cipularang Toll and Padaleunyi Toll.
Due to the adjustment, the ministry also applied new tariff for vehicles from Cawang tollgate, East Jakarta until Cikampek Utama tollgate or Kalihurip Utama tollgate: Group I still at Rp15,000, Group II-III at Rp22,500, Group IV-V at Rp30,000.
Danang explained that the government deliberately recovered the toll function as roads for long distance driving. Therefore, fares of several short-distance toll road significantly increased, including from Cikarang Barat tollgate to Cikarang Timur tollgate.
The fare adjustment is Group I (cars) at Rp12,000 from previously Rp2,500, Group II and III (trucks and buses) at Rp18,000 from previously Rp2,500, Group IV (heavy-load vehicles) at Rp24,000 from previously Rp3,000, and Group V (heavy-load vehicles) at Rp24,000 from previously Rp4,000.
