Jokowi-Prabowo Reconciliation, Ma'ruf Amin: Negotiations Ongoing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice Presidential Candidate Ma'ruf Amin said that reconciliation process between Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Prabowo Subianto following the 2019 Presidential Election will continue to be taken by his team. Ma'ruf added that negotiations will continue to be carried out.
"Negotiation process is of course ongoing. But efforts towards such efforts will wait until after May 22. If [election results] have been announced, then we will take concrete steps," Ma'ruf said at the house of Megawati Soekarnoputri, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratice Party of Struggle (PDI-P) on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Similarly, Megawati also said that his party is still waiting for the official vote recapitulation result from the General Election Commission (KPU) on May 22, 2019. Megawati believed that political conditions in Indonesia will be normal until the official announcement. Megawati explained that election is not a new thing and government transitions have been occurring several times.
"Well, yes, everyone wants it [to run well], from the number 1 or number 2 candidate pair, no need to quarrel, because everything has been regulated by Indonesian law," she said.
Vice Presidential Candidate Sandiaga Uno, asserted that reconciliation plan between Jokowi and Prabowo does not need a proxy.
"If the meeting can be scheduled, just let it flow because they are friends, they can directly connect, no need for middleman," Sandiaga said on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
