Ecuador Embassy Says Julian Assange Aggressive, has Bad Hygiene

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ecuador government released a shocking statement about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's behavior during his stay at their embassy in London. An official says that was one of the reasons he was refused asylum and was escorted out of the building.

"The patience of Ecuador has reached its limit on the behavior of Mr. Assange," Ecuador President Lenin Moreno said in a statement, April 11, as quoted by the New York Post.

Ecuador's Home Affair Minister Maria Paula Romo also said that Assange 
"smeared his feces on the walls and engaged in behaviors far below the common decency of a guest."

He reportedly took over the women's bathroom, per the International Business Times, which quoted sources last January saying Assange had poor hygiene. "It seems he doesn't wash properly," one source told the publication.

The whistleblower is also said to have behaved aggressively; confronting and mistreating guards.

During President Rafael Correa's term, the embassy tolerated Assange's behavior.  

Assange was arrested by the London police last night, which authorities said was done on behalf of the Ecuadorian government's invitation.

In January, the International Business Times reported that Assange did not clean his hands after eating and did not change clothes for days on end.

Bill Keeler, former executive editor of The New York Times had also said in 2011 that the Australian national smelled like he did not shower for days.

Julian Assange is also accused of spying on the Ecuadorian government and installed electronic and distortion equipment, as well as blocked the embassy building's security cameras.
