TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini or Risma is planning to meet a number of athletes regarding the city administration's plan to build Sports Museum in Gelora Pancasila, Surabaya, East Java.
“Mayor Risma will meet several athletes to discuss the museum as planned,” said Surabaya Youth and Sports Agency head Afghani on Monday, April 8, in Surabaya.
According to him, the Mayor held a hearing at her residence on Jalan Sedap Malam on Sunday, April 7 to talk about the plan.

“Actually, the audience is established not only with one athlete, but also others namely Alan Budi Kusuma, Lilis Handayani, Rudi Hartono as the Mayor asked. But [they couldn’t come] due to a busy schedule, we had a discussion with Minarti and other athletes from Surabaya who brought good names of the city through sports,” he added.
Afghani explained the sports museum would be situated in the building of Gelora Pancasila and display equipment previously used by athletes, especially badminton ones, such as shirts, rackets, duplicates of medals and trophies.
“Because this city is renowned as badminton city, so perhaps, [the museum] will be filled with badminton stuff,” Afghani noted.
Meanwhile, the former badminton athlete Minarti Timur expressed her appreciation for Mayor Risma in light of the plan to build Sports Museum in Surabaya as it is necessary to motivate athletes in the city.
