A Night in Shanghai Held at Gading Serpong to Celebrate Imlek

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Property company Summarecon Group will hold tonight an event dubbed "A Night in Shanghai" at The Springs Club Gading Serpong to celebrate Imlek or locally known Chinese New Year on January 5.
“We will provide a festive show with an ambiance of a modern, authentic city of Shanghai,” said Summarecon Group Clubs general manager Helmy Purboyakti, Monday, February 4.
Last year, The Springs Club Gading Serpong established the Royal Spring Festival, presenting Chinese folktale of Nian Monster. Rhis year, the concept is the exotic city of Shanghai.

The ballroom of The Springs Club Gading Serpong is designed similar to Shanghai city with the color of red and gold. The Yee Sang Ceremony will kick off the festival, followed by art performances such as Barongsai (a lion dance).
The Yee Sang Ceremony or prosperity toss is a typical dish to celebrate Chinese New Year, which consists of mixed salad ingredients in a large round plate. The dish will then be tossed as high as possible using chopsticks coupled with the shouts Gong Xi Fa Cai and wishes. The ceremony dates back to Chaozhou and Shantou ini the Southern Song Dynasty as a symbol of harmony and prosperity.
