TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Customs Office of Soekarno-Hatta Airport have foiled attempted smuggling of 1.5 tons of marijuana from Aceh Province.
“A total of 300 kilograms of the illegal drug is secured in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and the rest in Bogor,” said the head of Customs Office, Erwin Situmorang, Thursday, January 31.
Erwin explained that the drug was packed from Aceh and would be delivered to Bogor through domestic cargo of the airport. “The cargo airplane departs from Aceh and transit in Kualanamu Airport before landing in Soekarno-Hatta,” he added.
The Customs Office then rushed to investigate the information issued by BNN which led to the findings of the illegal drugs and traced the destination address in Bogor.
Based on the investigation, the drug delivery was carried out via land transportation other than airplane cargo in Soekarno-Hatta airport. The drug was loaded in a truck from Aceh.
“By the time the truck arrives, we begin the arrest,” BNN spokesperson Sulistyandri noted in a written statement, adding that the truck was specially designed to hide the illegal drug.
