TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jogja Hip Hop Foundation’s Marzuki Mohammad, also known as Kill the DJ, with members of the Yogya community plan to file a police report against Prabowo supporters for alleged plagiarism on one of the group’s music.
The local community group accompanying Marzuki in filing the report is the Sekber Keistimewaan Yogya. The group's Chairman Widihasto Wasana Putra explained that the report is not politically motivated and isn’t showing allegiance to any presidential hopefuls.
“Whoever is using that song, either the number 1 candidate (Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin) or candidate number 2 (Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno), using the song without permission is copyright infringement and can be convicted. This has nothing to do with politics,” said Widihasto today, January 15.
Furthermore, local campaign leader for Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin, Bambang Praswanto said that he agrees that electoral campaigns should not violate anyone’s copyright for the interests of a certain group. He then offered legal assistance to Marzuki Kill the DJ if needed.
