  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin campaign team deputy, Moeldoko, claimed that Joko "Jokowi" Widodo never returned any political favor for his presidential campaign backers throughout his office term. Moeldoko believed that Jokowi will remain that way if he gets re-elected in 2019.

"Has Pak Jokowi ever returned any favor throughout his leadership? I think there hasn't been any," said Moeldoko at the presidential palace complex on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Moeldoko issued such statement to counter rumors regarding President Jokowi's unethical behaviors following a recent report from the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), which claimed that Jokowi's campaign effort is mainly backed by third-party funding.

ICW researcher Almas Sjafrina argued that there are irregular funds originated from two groups; Golfer TBIG and Golfer TRG, which she suspects as a ploy from corporations funding the incumbent's presidential campaign.

According to her, the two groups were among the major campaign funders and reportedly provided up to IDR 37.9 billion for presidential and vice presidential candidateJokowi – Ma'ruf Amin in the past four months.

Moeldoko argued that the past four years of Jokowi's leadership should be the answer to the suspicions expressed by the ICW researcher.
