TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice president hopeful Sandiaga Uno announced his resignation as Chairman of the Indonesian Market Traders Association (APPSI) to focus on his efforts for the 2019 presidential election.
“As a vice presidential candidate, I must focus on my work, I want to achieve that win,” said Sandiaga in the national leaders’ meeting (rapimnas) held in Central Jakarta on Monday night.
Sandiaga Uno explained that APPSI had always been tasked to take the role as the government’s partner upon developing traditional markets across Indonesia and improve the lives of its traders, which he said is a task that “must be run wholeheartedly.”
As a replacement, Sandiaga has officially asked the help of Ferry Julianto who will be named as the acting chairman of the APPSI Head of Presidium for the remaining period up to the year 2020. He would also agree if the association demands an actual permanent replacement rather than a temporary one.
Sandiaga Uno was previously appointed as Prabowo Subianto’s replacement for the same position in APPSI during the national meeting (Munas) III of 2015.
