TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, and Cianjur) Coordinating Board or BKSP Jabodetabekjur has agreed to extend the Transjakarta bus route to Cikarang, Bekasi regency.

“The acting Bekasi regent has asked for the extention of the Transjakarta bus route to Cikarang considering the regency is currently developing its transportation services. So, we expedite [the process] to realize this plan,” said BKSP secretary Tri Kurniadi during a discussion in a meeting room of acting Bekasi regent in Cikarang, Monday, November 12.

Acting Bekasi regent Eka Supria Atmaja opined an integrated transportation means was vital as one of the solutions to aleviating traffic congestion in his regency. “Particularly [congestion] in Cikarang city and connecting roads between regencies and the province,” he said.

Other than the transportation issues, both parties talked on garbage issues, clean water, food security, and road construction. “We ask for regional development of road infrastructure, especially in northern areas bordering on Jakarta and Bekasi,” he added.

Eka mentioned the Bekasi regency administration last year received a grant worth Rp5 billion, thus his government proposed Rp5 billion this year for the construction of roads bordering on the capital.
