TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the offices of PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART) and PT Binasawit Abadi Pratama (BAP) in Jakarta. The two companies are subsidiaries of Sinar Mas Group that are engaged in agribusiness.

"Since [Monday] 11:00 until the early morning of Tuesday, October 30 at 04:00, the KPK team conducted a search at the offices of PT SMART and PT BAP, both of which are located in the same building," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Tuesday, October 30.

Febri said that during the search, the KPK confiscated two boxes of licensing and other corporate documents, as well as laptops and hard drives. This search was carried at the same time with three other searches at three locations in Central Kalimantan yesterday. It was also carried at the same time of the questioning of BAP's legal manager, Teguh Dudy, who surrendered turned himself into the KPK and had been named a suspect.

"We will study these pieces of evidence," Febri said.

Previously, the KPK named seven people as suspects for their alleged involvement in bribery. Bribes were allegedly given to members of the Central Kalimantan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission B, in relation with the supervision of plantation, forestry, mining, and environment sectors, in the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government in 2018.

People who are suspected of having received the bribes are Central Kalimantan DPRD's Commission B chairman Borak Milton, the commission's secretary Punding LH Bangkan, as well as commission members Arisavanah and Edy Rosada.

The people suspected to have given the bribes are PT BAP director Eddy Saputra Suradjati, PT BAP CEO Willy Agung Adipradhana, and PT BAP legal manager Teguh Dudy Syamsury.

KPK named the seven men as suspects following a series of sting operations in Jakarta on Friday night, October 26, 2018. The suspects were arrested on that night along with 6 other people.
