TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ride-hailing firm Go-Jek had given its strict sanction to one of its employees named Brata Santoso over the latter`s post on social media, said the corporate communication vice president Michael Say. Brata noted on his Facebook that Go-Jek was open-minded about diversity, including towards LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) groups.

“We have given sanction and a strict warning to the employee who posts [the issue], and he is obliged to partake in social activities as to be more thoughtful,” said Michael when met at Kemang, South Jakarta, Thursday, Oct 18.

Earlier, a hashtag #UninstallGojek became a highlight on social media following Brata Santoso’s post on his Facebook. Brata, the vice president of Go-Jek, posted last week his happiness and honor to deliver Go-Jek internal campaign that welcomed diversity by implementing non-discrimination policy.

“Go-Jek is taking diversity and inclusion matter to the next level by the adoption of non-discrimination policy towards the underrepresented group i.e. LGCT despite being an Indonesian company," as quoted from Brata’s post.

Michael said the worker had violated one of Go-Jek’s policies on social media guideline. “He should not use the company’s name for personal interest,” he added.

Tempo tried to seek the post on Facebook page today, but no account under name Brata Santoso found. However, the screenshot of the post still circulated on the internet.

Michael further claimed the viral statement on social media was the employee’s interpretation about Go-Jek. He asserted Go-Jek neither support nor reject a particular group. “What we support is the equality,” he underlined.
