TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malang Regent Rendra Kresna announced that he has been informed of his status as a suspect for his alleged involvement in a corruption case on Malang District’s special allocation funds (DAK) in 2011.
Rendra announced in front of a crowd of journalists at the Malang District Pendopo on Tuesday, October 9. “I saw the news, Rendra Kresna is a suspect,” said Rendra.
According to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation that commenced a year ago, Rendra allegedly accepted gratification from a contractor or project developer. Even though KPK has yet issued any official announcement, Rendra Kresna chose to step down from his position as Head of the NasDem regional executive board.
“Just one hour after the raid, Rendra submitted his resignation to the NasDem DPP Chairman,” said NasDem Secretary General Johny G. Plate on Tuesday, October 9.
Rendra Kresna said that he decided to resign from his position to concentrate his efforts and focus upon facing the case and preventing it from further hampering the NasDem Party.
