TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President of Amazon Wener Vogels expressed his intentions to invest in Indonesia to President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta today, Sept. 21. The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.
Sri Mulyani explained that Amazon plans to invest Rp14 trillion throughout a ten-year period which will be initiated by introducing Amazon’s cloud services in Indonesia.
"They plan to invest Rp 14 trillion for the next ten years which will start from their cloud services,” said the Finance Minister after the meeting ended.
However, in order to realize the investment, Sri explained, President Jokowi expected an incentive. “We're asked to create steps that will enable Amazon to realize their investments,” said Sri Mulyani.
Prior to today’s meeting,Amazon had met the president during a visit by the United States-ASEAN Business Council at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta in March 2018.
